Public Sector Consultant

Public sector consultant with experience applying Lean methods to optimize processes and drive efficiency across government ministries.

INTRODUCTION

As a public sector consultant, I specialized in process optimization and Lean methodology to help government ministries enhance efficiency, service quality, and organizational performance. My role involved analyzing complex administrative processes, identifying inefficiencies, and co-designing practical, data-driven solutions with key stakeholders.

Through this work, I supported ministries in simplifying workflows, reducing waste, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement — ultimately enabling them to deliver better public value with greater agility and accountability.

RESPONSI-BILITIES

For each ministry, our mission was to optimize processes. The difference with the Lean Methodology is the intention behind the mission. The purpose was of course to reduce costs but the main priority is always to improve the employees' work life and clients' satisfaction (in this case, the general public).

After my experience in banking for the Public Sector, it became important to me that my daily work has a positive impact on society, might the steps be small or big.

In order to improve processes with the right intentions, we go deep into a research phase to understand the daily life of employees :

1. QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

We ask multiple questions to clients and employees to evaluate efficiency and satisfaction

2. QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

We conduct in-depth interviews with employees to understand the blocking points they are experiencing with the current processes

3. VALUE STREAM MAPPING

We create a detailed visual diagram (or “map”) that shows how inputs become outputs through a series of steps. Each step is examined in terms of value and flow. We identify the wastes through this step.

4. FINDING IMPROVEMENT SOLUTIONS

-> Brainstorms

-> Root causes analysis

-> Impact/Feasibility Matrix

-> 5S (workspace organization)

-> Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)

-> Kaizen (rapid improvement workshops to brainstorm, test, and implement ideas quickly)

5. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

-> Training sessions to "Lean Managers" of the structure to engage in continuous improvement even after our mission.
